Rose House
Learning Disabilities Service
Rose is a residential home for people living with a learning disability and/ or an Autism.
The home develops individuals’ skills at a pace consistent with their needs and wishes using active support, person centred planning (PCP) and positive behavioural support (PBS).
- Males aged 18 yrs + who have a diagnosis of a learning disability and/ or Autism and/ or other associated conditions.
- Admission is primarily based upon an initial 12 week assessment period which includes a ‘Compatibility’ assessment to make sure that residents can be supported to live well together.
Enhancing quality of life is important to us. By working with the person and key stakeholders, we adopt a person centred approach to promote the development of both social and adaptive skills leading towards maintaining and increasing independence. This offers opportunities to enhance individual quality of life and achieve positive outcomes.
In addition to community based opportunities, the homely environment offers a range of in-house activities which residents can choose to take part in or opt out of as they wish. Popular activities include pottery, photography, mosaics, arts and crafts and cycling.
Residents also have access to the ‘Highfield Hub’ which is the active support centre. Here residents can engage in social and recreational activities with other residents as well as more formal based teaching in qualifications to facilitate learning and education. These are based on active support models in conjunction with the National Open College Network (NOCN) to support residents to achieve formal qualifications which they can use in the community and develop through college or further education.
