Holly
Learning Disabilities Service
Holly is a residential home for people living with a learning disability.
Holly uses person centred approaches and planning with individuals to ensure that care packages are at a level that will meet their needs and maintain choice and control over decision making.
Holly supports:
- Males or females aged 18+ who have a diagnosis of a learning disability.
- Support underlying challenging behaviours.
- Prior to the initial 12 week assessment period a ‘compatibility’ assessment is carried out to make sure that residents can be supported to live well together.
Enhancing quality of life is important to us. By working with the person and key stakeholders, we adopt a person centred approach to promote the development of both social and adaptive skills leading towards maintaining and increasing independence and offering opportunities to enhance the persons quality of life.
Individuals will have structured activity schedules in place, which can be utilised in-house or within the community. Residents will also be encouraged to use public transport to develop and maintain their independence skills.
Residents also have access to the ‘Highfield Hub’ which is the active support centre. Here residents can engage in social and recreational activities with other residents as well as more formal based teaching qualifications to facilitate learning and education.
These are based on active support models in conjunction with the National Open College Network (NOCN) to support resident’s to achieve formal qualifications which they can use in the community and develop through college or further education.
